The ithpe and ithpa are regularly and (usually) properly distinguished in JLA, through both vocalization and consanantalism, and it is thus here assumed that this distinction applied as well in unvocalized texts, in spite of the failure of this to be recognized in DJBA and DJPA. Nonetheless, by those later times the semantic distinction was clearly no longer strictly maintained, if at all.
