אַגְּדָן‏ n.m. silphium and/or asafoetida

ferula asafoetida (Fam: Umbelliferae) and the spice from its resin Syr, JBAg, LJLA. PJ Deut29:17 : דשרוי חיטאה חלי וסופיה מ{ס}<רי>ר כאגדנא דמותא‏ for its sin’s beginning is sweet but its end is as bitter as deadly asafoetida.
