אֲלוּ   conj./inte  behold

  presentative particle  BADan, Qumran. Dan2:31 : חָזֵה הֲוַיְתָ וַאֲלוּ צְלֵם חַד שַׂגִּיא  you were watching and there before you was a single great statue.  Dan4:7 . introducing verbal sentences  BADan.  Dan7:8 : וַאֲלוּ קֶרֶן אָחְֹרִי זְעֵירָה סִלְקָת  suddenly another small horn came up.

In BibArDan both ארו and אלו occur in close proximity. This may be simple textual or even authorial variation, but if there is a semantic difference it would appear to be that most of the time אלו usually expresses a sudden, surprising appearance whereas ארו adds elements to an already existing scene.
