אֲלוּ‏ conj./inte behold

presentative particle BA^Dan, Qumran. Dan4:10 : חָזֵה הֲוֵית בְּחֶזְוֵי רֵאשִׁי עַל־מִשְׁכְּבִי וַאֲלוּ עִיר וְקַדִּישׁ מִן־שְׁמַיָּא נָחִת‏ . 4QEnGiants^c01.3 : די עירינ] אולדו ו֗אלו כג֗[ברין‏ †. introducing nominal sentences BA^Dan. Dan2:31 : חָזֵה הֲוַיְתָ וַאֲלוּ צְלֵם חַד שַׂגִּיא‏ you were watching and there before you was a single great statue. Dan4:7 . introducing verbal sentences BA^Dan. Dan7:8 : וַאֲלוּ קֶרֶן אָחְֹרִי זְעֵירָה סִלְקָת‏ suddenly another small horn came up.

In BibAr^Dan both ארו and אלו occur in close proximity. This may be simple textual or even authorial variation, but if there is a semantic difference it would appear to be that most of the time אלו usually expresses a sudden, surprising appearance whereas ארו adds elements to an already existing scene.
