אֲסִיר‏ adj. captured; forbidden

captive, bound Com^-OA^-BA. ܒܝܬ ܐܣܝܪ̈ܐ‏ : prison : see s.v. byt ˀsyryn, byt ˀsyrˀ JLAtg, Syr, JBA, LJLA. fig. : captivated by, devoted to Syr, LJLA. TgJob3:18 : כחדא אסירי מדרשיא שליאו‏ together those captured by the midrashim were silent.

forbidden Qumran, Gal, JBA, LJLA. TgEsth² 3:8(8) : יומא אסירא הוא‏ it is a day forbidden (for commerce).
