#צַלְמָן   n.m.  statue, idol


  statue of a divinity, idol  JLAtg, Sam, LJLA.  TgO Gen31:19 : צָלמָנַיָא דִלאֲבֻוהָא  her father's idols.  TgJ 1Sam19:13 : וֻנסֵיבַת מִיכַל יָת צַלמָנַיָא/עביטא/ וְשַוִיאַת עַל עַרסָא  Michal took the idols [MT אֶת־הַתְּרָפִים] (var.: saddle-bag) and put them on the bed .  TgJ Is10:10 : מַלכְווָן דְפָלְחָן לְטָעְוָתָא וֻצַלמָנֵיהוֹן  kingdoms that worship false divinities and their images.  TgPs78:58 : ובפסיליהון ובצילמוניהון אקנון יתיה.

In the JLA targums this word renders both תרפים and פסילים. Properly speaking attested so far only as an individuating plural of ṣlm, but a singular is presupposed here because it serves as the base of derivatives, q.v.
