מוֹמְאָה מוֹמֵי מוֹמָתָא   n.f.  oath

oath  Com.  GenApoc 20.30 : וימא לי מלכא במומה.  TgJ 1K8:31 : וְיִרשֵי בֵיה מוֹמֵי לְאוֹמָיוּתֵיה  should he sue him to make him swear an oath.  PJ Deut23:24 : מומתא דתיפוק מן שפוותכון תקימון  you must keep the oath that comes out of your lips.

  invocation of a curse  JLAtg.  TgJ Zec5:3 : דָא מוֹמָתָא דַעֲתִידָא לְמִפַק עַל אַפֵי כָל  [MT: הָֽאָלָ֔ה].

We have maintained a historically reflective spelling for the headword here, although in the attested post-OfA forms the aleph is elided and the final syllable becomes simple -ā. In unvocalized older spellings with heh or aleph, the pronunciation of the final syllable is uncertain, although JLA is consistent in vocalizing it with final /ē/.
