נְקֵי נִקְיָא   n.f.  sheep, ewe


  sheep, ewe  Com.  Dan7:9 : לְבוּשֵׁהּ כִּתְלַג חִוָּר וּשְׂעַר רֵאשֵׁהּ כַּעֲמַר נְקֵא.  TgJ Is1:18 : אִם יִסמְקוּן כִזהוֹרִיתָא כַעֲמַר נְקֵי יְהוֹן  [just = MT כַּצֶּמֶר!].  PJ Lev13:10 : כעמר נקי.  TgSong4:3 : כעמר נקי.

The BA passage (and JLA and LJLA quotations of it, e.g., PJ Lev13:10) was early on (see LXX) as well as until recently (see e.g., BDB) understood as "pure wool"; see M. Sokoloff, JBL 95 (1976): 277-79. Whether the targumist understood it as such, of course, is uncertain
