תער   n.m.  sheath

  sheath  PTA.  GT R Gen44:18 : אִם אִישלוֹף חַרבִּי מִתַּעְרַה לָא אָתִיבִינַּה לְנִידְנַה  if I draw my sword from its war-sheath I shall not return it to its sheath.

A Hebrew word (cf. e.g. 1Sam 17:51, Ezek 21:10) used here (possibly simply citing those texts) to indicate something like a sheath for active fighting as opposed to one (נדן) for safekeeping?
