documents from the third century AD", ARAM 3 (1991) 259-67 and, following him, J. Healey as reprinted in Law and Religion between Petra and Edessa (2011) pp. 215ff. Note especially that Brock read
imperfect verbal forms with a yodh prefix against Teixidor who read them
with a nun prefix. The text has now been restudied by Healey in The Syriac Legal Documents of the 3rd Century ce, whose new interpretations we generally follow here.
