Coronation: Sharx traSa D-taga D-Shishlam rba utapsir D-(uhra D-Shkinta u(niania usharx D-masiqta as prepared under the direction of M. Morgenstern.
The main text is from the Rbai Rafid Collection and is used by kind permission of the custodian of the collection, based upon digital images held at Tel Aviv University.
Main text based upon RRC 1A, copied in Shushtar in 1156 AH (1744-5 CE) by Iuhana br Ram br Sam br Adam k. Malka Sabur. In a few places words missing due to damaged sections of the manuscript have been completed according to BL Or. 6592 (var. 1). In one place, several words have been omitted in RRC due to homoioteleuton. They have been restored as a lengthy variant from the BL manuscript.
Variant readings:
1 BL. Or. 6592, copied in Mu?ammara in 1289 AH (1872?1873 CE), itself copied from a composite text. (For the correct understanding of the colophon, see Matthew Morgenstern, "Neo-Mandaic in Mandaean Manuscript Sources", in G. Khan and L. Napiorkowska (eds.), Neo-Aramaic and its Linguistic Context (Gorgias Press, 2015), pp. 379-408: 384.). The text was published as images in The Coronation of the Great Shishlam, being a Description of the Rite of the Coronation of a Mandaean Priest according to the Ancient Canon. Translation from Two Manuscripts Entitled The Coronation of Shishlam-rba, DC 54 Bodleian Library, Oxford (1008 A.H.) and Or. 6592, British Museum (1298 A.H.) with Discussion of the "Words Written in the Dust" Leiden: Brill.
2 DC 54, copied in 1008 AH (1599?1600 CE), probably copied in the region of Huwaiza in Khuzestan. This copy is very corrupt and I have only used its readings sparingly. See previous bibliography.
