TgJob: Chapter 2 Verse 2 Text 1
An eclectic text based on the work of David M. Stec, The Targum of Job( Brill, 1994); his main text is that of ms. Vatican Urbinas I, but we have replaced that manuscript's many obvious errors with better forms when they are supported by the vast majority of mss. and added important lexical variants of lesser attestation. Students should note the special nature of the manuscript history of this text, in that there are many verses with multiple translations and many words with (usually) two variants in the main text itself without special indication. It has been impossible within CAL format constraints to indicate all such material in a systematic way, so interested students should refer directly to Stec's fine publication. (NB: 34:24 and 41:17 are hopeless messes of ms. variation that we have not here attempted to disentangle.) Some mss. show regular spelling variants of otherwise common words, such as Paris 110, against the overwhelming majority of other mss. We have left only a few such examples in the text as illustrations.
