In spite of the etymology and the use of this root in Christian texts, there seems to be no clear evidence that either "impalement" (as with the Assyrians) or "crucifixion" (of the Romans) per se was intended in any of these LJLA examples. Note especially the use with the verb tql "to hang". The OT Biblical evidence for this punishment has been interpreted by some as "impalement" and by others as "hanging". תיקו.
