מְתַל מַתְלָא‏ n.m. parable

parable, riddle JLAtg, Gal, CPA, Syr, JBA, Man, LJLA. TgJ 1Sam10:12 : עַל כֵין הְוָת לְמַתלָא הְאַף שָאוּל בְסָפְרַיָא‏ therefore it became the saying: is Saul also among the scribes?. TgEsth² 1:2(230) : ומתלא מתלין לרברבניא‏ she proposes riddles to the nobles. astonishing tale or example JLAtg, Syr, LJLA. TgO Deut28:37 : וֻתהֵי לְצָדוּ לִמתַל וֻלשוֹעִי בְכֹל עַמְמַיָא‏ you will become a (source of) astonishment (MT: לְשַׁמָּה ], a proverb, and a tale among all the nations. TgPs69:12 : והוית להון למתלא‏ I became a watchword for them.
