  to sharpen, make pointed (?)  JLAtg, LJLA.  TgJ Ez21:14 : וְחַרבָא דְבנֵי עַמוֹן תִתנֵי/תְתַנֵי/ וֻתשֵיצֵי  [~MT חֶרֶב הוּחַדָּה וְגַם־מְרוּטָה].  TgPs140:4 : מתניין בלישנהון היך חיויא  [=MT שָׁנֲנוּ לְשׁוֹנָם כְּמוֹ־נָחָשׁ].

Jastrow's example (p. 1682) from Tg Ezek 21:14 for 'to be sharpened' should surely be emended to תשתנין as in the following verse, but if correct then perhaps from the idea of a double-edged sword. The Targ Psalms example is clearly a word play involving the unique biblical usage וְשִׁנַּנְתָּם of Deut 6:7l and should simply be understood as usual, i.e. as an example of tny vb. #1
