The original phonological distinction among the forms /maptiḥ/ 'key', /maptaḥ/ 'opening (place)', and /miptaḥ/ 'opening (v.n./infin.)' has largely been confused in the dialects. It is particularly difficult to determine the original form underlying the compounds.
