It is probable that by the addition of the "by/in/with their kind" the author of PsJon is here explicitly rejecting the old Platonic idea that the original creation was as a single, bisexual creature, a position mentioned several times in Rabbinic literature, e.g. Bereshit Rabbah chapter 8.
