The compounding particle לת in the JBA and JBAgeon expression משום לת would appear to be derived from the ending of the synonymous word אמטול with pronominal suffixes, as proposed by Epstein, "Notes on Post-Talmudic", P. 334f. The rendering of לתא as a separate word meaning "fellowship" as proposed by Jastrow is thus to be rejected.
