For the suggested etymology involving ql, see Nöldeke, ZDMG 22(1868): 520. Ben-Hayyim (see Tal p. 693b) suggested rather psq with the assimilated subsequent preposition l_, as happened in Syriac ntl < ntn; and that seems to be the position of Lieberman in Greek in Jewish Palestine, p. 176.
