The assignment of PTA examples to the afel in DJPA is largely incorrect. All examples other than Lev. 19:13 in meaning 2 and the verbal nouns should be assigned to peal. The latter does reveal a movement toward the afel of the basic meaning of this a/i hollow verb in late Palestinian, as in Samaritan. Compare the treatment of sym in CPA.
