In JBA and late Mandaic this singular form loses its distinctive semantics and is then used in addition to the plural for the meaning "face."
In translated Syriac texts and derivatives of them, the pl. form was occasionally meant to be "noses"; e.g., at P P Am4:10 , JSMem 3:160.
