§▶
In the literary Aramaic tradition (note especially BA and Qum) often spelled with nasalization: אנפין ; CPA also ܐܒܝܢ‏; Gal also אופין ; in JBA (and spoken Mandaic!) the form may be re-formed as a singular, thus ˀappā. Syr. pl. ܐܲܦ݁ܲܝ̈ܵܐ‏, a feminine plural, but also treated as a singular. Generally treated as a masculine plural form elsewhere.

All compounds with prepositions are also listed as separate lemmas.
Used in the construct in the sense of "curtain", the entire compound takes the gender and number of the second word: see NSG §142.
At 1QapGen 20.3 the form אנפהא has here been interpreted as "nose" rather than face due to both contextual and morphological considerations.
