JPA, LJLA נִימֹוסָא but also נֻמסָא ; Syr. ܢܵܡܘ݁ܣܵܐ‏; CPA ܢܝܡܘܣ. In the JPA primary text pYadin17.42 we find נמוש , to be understood as a writing for śin, but probably a hyper-correction (and see cited Nabataean metathesized spelling נשומה ).

Greek νόμος.As is the case with the Greek etymon, it is often best to combine definitions 1 and 2 and translate simply "customary law".
The Greek short vowel ο was pronounced variously in the later koine dialects, in places like α and elsewhere (especially Egypt) like υ, hence the various initial vowels in the Aramaic forms.
